This free code 39 font can be used to generate medium height code 3 of 9 barcodes.This font can encode uppercase letter, numbers and special symbols directly, withastisks being added at the beginning and at the end. This is a full functionalfreeware; not a crippled version or trial.

This code 39 font may be used in personal and commerical organizations, withno restictions on gross revenue.

Windows Installation

To install the font on Windows, follow the steps below:

Unzip the files into a folder on the disk, such as c:temp.
Select Start → Control Panel → Fonts.
Right click on the white space, select Install New Font...
Navigate to the folder that you just created. Select MRV Code39MA Free from List of Fonts and select Install.
The font is now available to use.

Mac OS/X Installation

The same true type font can be used on Mac OS/X. Unzip the file downloaded,and drag and drop to Library/Fonts directory.

Font Characteristics

At 12 points, this free code39 font produces barcodes with X dimension 10 mils(0.025 cm) and bar height at 0.5 inch (1.27cm). Fonts scale linearly at both directions.Therefore, at 18 points, the font produces barcodes with X dimension 15 mils (0.038cm)and bar height at 0.75 inch (1.90cm).

When printing on a device with below 600 dpi in resolution, special attentionshould be paid to produce high quality barcodes. See KB10032 for more information.

Specifically, on 203-dpi printers, use the following optimal sizes: 6, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36... for 300-dpi printers, use 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28, 32, 36... points only.

If you are looking at reducing or increasing the barcode height, you might wantto purchase Code39 Fontware instead which contains total five different heights,with and without human readable text.

Using Code 39 Barcode Font

Code39 font is the easist barcode to use. Just enclose the string encodedwith asterisks. For example, *1234567*. Square brakcets can be usedin the place of asterisks, which produces code39 barcodes without asterisks appearingin the human readable text: [1234567].

Unless font is embedded (possible in Microsoft Word and PDF, See KB10006),this font should be available at every computer that views the document for thebarcode to show up.

ConnectCode Barcode Command is available for download at the following:

The software requires the Open Type Barcode Fonts bundled in ConnectCode Barcode Software for Mac (available in the Mac App Store) to generate barcodes.

Note : Barcode Command can only be used under the terms and conditions of ConnectCode Barcode Software.
Barcode Command can be installed easily by simply unzipping the downloaded package. This command line application can then be launched from the Mac OS Terminal application, as shown below, by entering the command “./BarcodeCommand”.

An overview on the use of Barcode Command to create a barcode

The following steps provide an overview of using Barcode Command with the Open Type barcode fonts for creating a barcode.

Barcode Font For Mac

Enter the following command in Mac OS Terminal. The output “*12345678-*” returned by Barcode Command is redirected to a file.
./BarcodeCommand Code39 ‘12345678’ 1 > barcodefile.txt
Open the “barcodefile.txt” file using TextEdit.
Select and highlight the data (“*12345678-*”) in the file.
Go to the menu Format->Fonts->Show Fonts.
Set the font family to “CCode39_S3” and the font size to “24”.

A Code 39 barcode that adheres to industry specifications is created. For details on the parameters, see the ConnectCode Barcode Command Manual (PDF).
Note : You will need to install a registered copy of ConnectCode Barcode Software and setup the barcode fonts on your Mac before you can use the 'CCode39_S3' font as described above.

If you get the 'BarcodeCommand' cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified' error.
It is due to the new Gatekeeper security feature. To resolve the issue, simply click on the 'Cancel' button for the above message. Launch 'System Preferences -> Security & Privacy'.
Click on the 'Allow Anyway' button to unblock 'BarcodeCommand'. You will be prompted whether to allow 'BarcodeCommand' to 'Open' the next time you run it.
Instead of the above, it is also possible to issue the following Terminal command to bypass Gatekeeper.
xattr -d com.apple.quarantine ./BarcodeCommand
